Germans love funky juices. In the States, finding something like Lychee juice or Passionfruit juice is a quest to a specialty shop. But in Deutschland, this stuff is all over the place. Here is a recipe for a warm, spiced, rummy pear drink. It’s not really a cider since there is no apple, but I’m using a lot of the cider spices.
Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients
- 6 cloves
- 1 star anise
- a pinch of nutmeg
- 1/2 a stick of cinnamon
- 500 ml of pear juice
- 200 ml of rum
Directions
- Combine all ingredients except the rum in a pot and cook on low for 30-60 minutes.
- When you’re ready to serve, stir in the rum.
